Text Box: The Holiday Tradition Begins
In the mid-1960’s, President David O. McKay, former President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, asked J. Leland Behunin to light the trees on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah without causing them any harm. Leland developed a practice for lighting trees that inflicted minimal damaged.
This practice has been refined over the years by certified arborists and horticulturists, as we have illuminated homes and business across the Wasatch Front since 1968. Each season, Behunin Horticulture continues to put up over a million lights, while ensuring the health and safety of trees.
